Wilderness White Water Rafting & Kayaking Tour
Have you ever dreamed of rafting down a wilderness River like a modern day Hucklberry Finn. Is there a place like this that will take me back to the way it use to be. Accesible only by helicopter or jet boat, start your expedition at our 5 star wilderness river retreat hidden away in Canada's Northern tree line on the South Knife River. Like a mountain retreat our lodge sits a1/4 way down from the headwaters of this remote river system. Spend one day exploring the lodge and it's surroundings. Visit one of the nearby streams and listen to the bubbling water as it cascades down to the river. The next morning start your tumble down stream towards the rugged Hudson Bay coastline. Explore this wild river as did Samuel Hearne in the 1700's with our state of the art Hucklberry Finn raft which features an 1800's style wooden deck and shelter, built to withstand the worst of whitewater that the South Knife River can offer. We provide kayaks where you can explore by yourself as the main raft lumbers along this subarctic river. Moose, Black Bear, Caribou, as well as Ugh, the occasional Polar Bear make their way up and down this wildlife corridor. Find that unnamed creek where a wiley Brook Trout is waiting to surprise you. Test a set of rapids where Arctic Grayling dance. World class fishing, as well as a wilderness river trip right out of a history book would expect you to bump into Samuel Hearne making his trek across the barrenlands to the Coppermine River. Lewis and Clarke never had it this good. Enjoy delicious camp food and interesting stories as you make your way towards the Hudson Bay coast. Once your at the Bay it is just a short trip by jet boat back to the village of Churchill and the Lazy Bear Lodge. Here you can take a boat trip to see, hear and maybe touch a Beluga Whale. As a time to relax and take it all in, visit our Lazy Bear Cafe where you will find the best in indigenous foods. Savour our Siloin of Muskox Rouladen, and don't forget to try our one of a kind French Canadian Arctic Char. (Mild Cajun Style) Make sure you ask your server to seat you close to our serious natural stone fireplace. Over 20,000 pounds of natural rock are there to help keep you cozy warm and provide the flickering fire light by which to enjoy your feast. |
